It's been a while, sorry about that. Here are some random pics from the last 6 months.

Eliza and Dad in the park (that's Dad standing out on the pond, "The Man" doesn't allow skating on the pond....)

Everyone needs to escape the cold northeast winter and Eliza is no different. She took a trip with Mum to visit Nanna and Poppah in Florida earlier in the year.

Yet to determine if she can touch her nose with it, but I'm pretty sure its just a matter of time...
For all her energy and desire to have silly fun, Eliza LOVES to be a lazy bones (she just loves to say it too!)

Eliza took some ballet classes and just loves dressing up as, and being, a ballerina.

But it gets tiring, you know

Eliza at her first proper Easter egg hunt - we had a few training runs at home to make sure she was at the top of her egg game
Eliza does A LOT of arts and crafts (one of the many reasons we love Laura)

Painting is one of her favorite things to do, brush or body part, she doesn't really care what the tool is

Eliza goes to Stepping Stone at the Childrens Museum not far from us each week. They do arts and crafts, hear stories (English and Spanish), and play with the various interactive exhibits (the water one here is her fave)

Eliza took a ride on the "choo-choo" with Dad one day to his old office in the city. She had soooo much fun (Dad wishes he could derive that kind of excitement from the commute...)

We joined the aquarium nearby and Eliza loves to go and see all of the creatures. They have a HUGE sea turtle (who just happens to be posing for the camera)

The nearby mall has a play area based on Looney Tunes (another thing she just loves to say) characters, its padded and fun for when the weather is not cooperating - which in fall/winter/spring in Connecticut is often....)

The 2nd Birthday Festival

Eliza's 2nd birthday ended up as a week long celebration. Based on the pictures I had to pick from, I think I used the video camera more than I thought for the festivities.

The first cake was a couple of days before Eliza's actual birthday as Dad had to travel

Why have a small piece of cake when you can have the whole thing!

Eliza and her new kitchen - Just because you have some domestic duties, it doesn't mean you can't look like a lady doing it ;-)

But then sometimes you just have to get the job done....

Party #2 was on Eliza's birthday - Ahhh, the satisfaction derived from the successful blowing out of a candle.

The Holiday Season

Dad has been very ineffective at keeping the blog updated, but in his defence, he has been a little busy. Since the last post we have moved to Connecticut and Dad has started working a project in Atlanta 4 days a week. No more excuses, here are the pictures
We live directly across the street from a big park at our new digs, so you will notice a lot of the pictures are taken there.

Sophia's First Birthday Party

We all went out to the Stephans' place in Sag Harbor, NY to help Sophia celebrate her first birthday. In keeping with true Aussie traditions, Sophia's mum Helen had Pass-the-Parcel AND Fairy Bread. Probably one of the best parties Dad has been to in a long time (probably 20 odd years actually...)

Fun Times, Friends and a Farewell to Hoboken

A lot has been going on since the last post. Though Dad is the first to admit that the posts are few and far between at the moment. We have moved from Hoboken, NJ to Old Greenwich, CT but before we moved we got a chance to have some fun and get some pictures of Eliza's friends. We will miss them.

Well, Eliza is 18 months or a year and a half (depending on where you went to school) old now, and along with most other parents we can concur that time really does fly. Here are some pictures we took to mark the occasion.

Here are some pictures from the last month or so.

There is a "water park" near our place that Eliza loves to go to. The little sprinklers are great, but the big buckets of water that drop from high up pretty much knock her off her feet. No worries, she is giggling either way. Eliza and Dad down by the Hudson on an after dinner walk.
Eliza continues to be quite the climber, this is her navigating the "chasm" between the ottoman and the couch.
The other climbing achievement recently was the high chair. As you can see here, we lowered right down after we found her standing in it reaching for the paintings on the wall! Though now we know when Eliza wants dinner, she simply goes and gets in her seat....
Who says the 80's are dead?
Eliza thinks undressing herself is pretty fun. We just need to work on the getting dressed again part.

Bringing You Up-to-Date

Mothers Day in Queens was very nice - and we got to meet cousin Steve and Debbie's little boy John. Full of confidence from her experience with her baby-doll, Eliza was ready for her turn with John.

Australia Trip

Dad has not been very good at updating the blog lately :-( Here are some pictures from our trip to Australia back in April. We had a great time catching up with everyone. The weather wasn't great, but we had a good time nonetheless.

Eliza and Mum at the Kiama Blowhole - For those unfamiliar with the natural phenomena that are blowholes, it is basically a cave that faces the ocean which has an opening in its roof. So when waves crash into the cave the water shoots out the hole in the roof. How high it shoots depends on how big the waves are.

Here are some pictures from the month since we last posted. Apologies for the gap in posting, things seem to get busy....

Eliza is the Queen of her Castle! She has mastered the sliding down part, and now seems to have worked out the "climbing up on her own part as well" which has Mum & Dad a little nervous (and hastily putting foam mats around the place!)
The day after the last post, indicating that Eliza hadn't really taken to riding the zebra, she started riding it and has been considerable time on it ever since. (spoke to soon, I guess...)

Birthday Festival

We were able to spread Eliza's 1st Birthday celebration out across 3 different occasions, I mean, why have a birthday party when you can have a birthday Festival. Eliza seemed to have a good time, and Mum and Dad certainly did.

As far as our little girl growing up..... Eliza has 6 teeth now and can stand up and go for a walk or a run all by herself (which seems to make her very happy!)

Celebration #1 was in St Louis just before we left after Christmas. A little early, but it enabled the family out there to participate.

Ice cream cake is fun!

Celebration # 2 in NJ with friends - this was the day before Eliza's birthday. Grandma came in for the weekend so she could participate in the birthday festival. We had lots of balloons, one of Eliza's favourite things.

Celebration #3 - this is Eliza's actual birthday and she is standing on her new Climb 'n' Slide castle - and yes, it now resides in our apartment...

Sliding is fun, Eliza has worked out the sliding part, still needs a little help on what to do when she gets to the bottom ;-)

We headed off to St Louis for the Christmas break. We had a nice get together the Sunday before Christmas. It was nice to catch up with friends and family.

Santa Claus is Coming To Town

December has really flown by! Eliza has started walking, which is very exciting. Eliza loved to walk holding on to one finger for a few weeks, so Mum & Dad are actually getting a little bit of a rest! Eliza is very interested in finger foods, but could use a few more teeth to make things a little easier. She currently has her two bottom teeth and the top two are coming in.

Thanksgiving

Eliza's first Thanksgiving was nice, we went to the parade in the city, and had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (well Dad did anyways!).

The Parade was VERY crowded because the weather was so nice (about 60 degrees and sunny), therefore we were limited to looking at the balloons

Eliza's First Flight - Walt Disney World

Dad had a conference to attend in Orlando, Florida and we decided that it would be a good opportunity for Mum and Eliza to join Dad and head off to Walt Disney World. Even though we didnt go on any rides, we did see that characters, the parade and the fireworks.

Aside from Pumpkin Picking and Dressing up, things have been pretty normal for us lately. Here is some of the day-to-day
On one of her adventures, Eliza discovered the air conditioner. Good times....

Eliza loves to spend time at the park, swinging still seems to be her favourite thing, but the slippery dip offers some "controlled" excitement as well
Ahhh, the joy of sliding on your bum!

Before Eliza's first swim lesson, you can tell that this is clearly the BIGGEST bath tub she has ever seen! She did great, no crying, not even in the rather cold lap pool

First Halloween

Eliza's first Halloween was a good one (more for Mum and Dad than for Eliza we think!). The town we live in has a good sized parade and allows everyone to participate, it was a lot of fun.

We had some studio pictures taken of Eliza taken at 9 months and here they are. We forgot to mention on the last post that Eliza had her first tooth arrive on her 9 month birthday (more exciting for Mum and Dad than Eliza). Now she is happily leaving her "mark" around the place, especially on the edge of her crib!

Eliza is very mobile these days and is finding fun all over the place. Her exploration adventures quickly led to Dad needing to put up some gates and establish some obstacles.

At 8 months old she is already dancing on the table.... hehe
Eliza's first ride on the carousel in Central Park... it was faster than we expected, but she seemed to enjoy it nonetheless
Eliza is crawling around these days, whilst not an expert at it yet, she definitely gets where she wants to go
Meal times are good times for Eliza.... Mum and Dad sometimes have a different outlook
Eliza has mastered the art of sitting up on her own, which is one of her favourite things in the world to do. She likes it because it allows her to do her other favourite thing... pull herself up to standing! This has made nap times kinda interesting....

Eliza continues to grow and amaze us (we are first time parents after all!) We are still waiting on teeth, and it seems that crawling may be just around the corner, but we have all been enjoying the exercise of eating from a spoon though. Now if we could just convince her that 4am is party time for adults and not 7 month old girls.....

Busy Times

Hi Everyone
Sorry for the delay in posting pictures of Eliza, things have been a bit busy for us. Patty decided to accept a new job with a company in New York. So we sold our house in Chicago, packed up our stuff and moved to Hoboken NJ (which is just across the river from Manhattan) and Patty started working. This has all happened in the 2 months sinced we last posted.

We took Nanna and Poppy with us to St Louis to have Eliza christened with family and friends down there. Uncle Tom and Aunt Kym visited from St Louis. It was great to see them.

Grandma has come to help us out many times which has been wonderful. Eliza loves her Grandma and we love the help and support.

Sorry about the delay in posting more pictures, things have been busy around here. We have a video camera now, and the new PC to compliment the camera is on the way. Soon we hope to post some video links for you to see.

We were feeling creative during our doctor prescribed "take it easy" time and the nursery was the result. The band of polka dots (or polka blobs, depending on how close you look!) were painted by us as were the 2 flower paintings above the dresser.

Hi Everyone

With all the difficulties we had getting pictures of Eliza to everyone we figured that we would create a blog (thanks to Herb for reminding of such an option) to make future distributions much easier.

We hope to use this as a way of keeping friends and family all over the place updated on Eliza's adventures.
